How To Estimate The Gradient Of A Quadratic Or Curved Graph By Drawing A Tangent Line At The Point

In this video you will be shown how to estimate the gradient of a curved graph by drawing a tangent at the point in the curve. To find the gradient first mark the correct point on the graph. Then draw a tangent line at the point on the graph. A tangent is a line which just touches the curve at that point. Next make a right angled triangle using the point at the bottom and top of the tangent. Find the gradient by dividing the height of the triangle by the base length. In the first example you need to work out the gradient at the point x=2 on the graph. In example 2 you need to work out the gradient at the point x=0.
