Learn two methods for RF record and playback, using a real-time spectrum analyzer (RSA) as an RF signal recorder and an arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) for RF signal playback. First, an RSA is configured to trigger and capture a transmission as I and Q data. The IQ data is processed and played back using a high-performance AWG. Next, the RSA is used to record raw IF data. DataVu-PC software is used to analyze and edit the recorded dataset and produce an I and Q file. The IQ data is again played back using the AWG. These basic methods provide a foundation for recording and reproducing RF signals in a wide variety of transmitter and receiver test applications: from field spectrum surveying, spectrum management, range testing, radiation hazard (RADHAZ) scanning, electronic warfare (EW), signals intelligence (SIGINT), hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), to radar scenario generation.
