Welcome to the official start of a series of videos taking a deep dive into idol culture - IDOLpedia! I mostly talk about Jpop idols & international idols, but will touch on other topics that are relevant as well. This will include questions like this, informative videos teaching about the culture, & tips and tricks if you are looking to do this kind of work yourself! As a note, I refer to 'Jpop & Kpop' genres pretty consistently here, but in this video I am specifically talking about idol music that falls into these categories. There is plenty of music that makes it onto top charts and can be considered 'pop' that isn't idol related, but that side of the pop industry is not specifically what I am talking about in this video! And there is plenty of alternative idol music that wouldn't be considered 'pop' typically, so keep that in mind as well! Something else that I didn't mention - Jpop and Kpop's general style is a reflection of their culture and the priorities that those cultures have in the entertainment world, generally speaking. Lumping everything together and forgetting that diminishes the unique POV that each country brings when they are creating music. This is true of overseas idols as well! They're bring their own background, melted together with whichever performance style they are inspired by.
