When I use the term 'Idol' in this video, it is referring to the Japanese spectrum of idols. Different countries use this same term to mean different things - but I mean it as: A performer, typically on the amateur level, whose focus is performance charisma and personality, rather than baseline skill in singing or dancing alone. The core is personal growth and skill development over time. SO You've seen people using the tag #overseasidol or #kaigaiidol and you're unsure what that really means? You're a fan of idols and are interested in performing yourself? Or you're just a fan trying to learn more? Look no further! Note: 'Kaigai' is the Japanese word for 'Overseas'! It is also worth noting that Overseas Idols come in all shape, sizes, genders, races, relationship statuses & orientations. There are no 'rules' when it comes to this. We are not attempting to be Japanese in any way, but to respect the culture and spread the magic of idol performances across the globe. I am here to help spark conversation about Overseas Idols, what they're all about and how to get started. Please let me know what you would like to learn about idols, or the process of becoming an idol yourself! I have some ideas already, but please feel free to leave in the comments. What are your thoughts?! If you like Japanese idols, idol anime, or Jpop music, I have a feeling you'll really like Overseas Idols as well!
