Timeline Editing Made EASY | Getting Started with Autodesk Fusion Episode 5

Welcome to the fifth video in our Fusion Getting Started Series! In this lesson, we’ll explore how to edit features in the timeline to modify your design and take advantage of the powerful parametric modeling capabilities in Fusion. We’ll begin by reviewing the timeline for the spool component, which shows every step used to build the model. Then, we’ll go “back in time” to edit the original sketch and add small ridges along the spool—giving the fishing line more texture to grip onto. You’ll learn how to activate components, edit sketches, and use the Pattern command to duplicate features quickly and efficiently. Next, we’ll modify the Revolve feature to include the new circular profiles, creating grooves that update automatically when dimensions change. This demonstrates the power of parametric updates, where design changes cascade through the model without requiring manual rework. We’ll also cover how to use Show Dimensions to edit values directly on the 3D model, making it easier to adjust key parameters like diameters and widths. By the end of this video, you’ll understand how to leverage Fusion’s timeline to refine designs, experiment with changes, and maintain full control over your model. Finally, we’ll save the updated spool design, setting the stage for the next video where we’ll build the Bail component using these same techniques.
