Aling Flora has been selling “Biniribid” and other rice cakes for almost 40 years now in Naga City. Each rice cake is handmade every day using local ingredients like sangkaka (sugar cane sweetener) and coconut which are then traditionally cooked using firewood. By peddling her freshly made goods every day, she was able to send her children through school while also becoming a local celebrity amongst her usual customers in town. While life has thrown many curveballs her way, Flora Cuerdo has proven that a little kindness can make a significant mark on people’s lives.
