I implemented graphical functionality into my own handmade operating system: cavOS. From learning about the Linux userspace, how graphical servers (xorg) work to actually making all of that work on a from-scratch kernel! I also managed to port quite a few nostalgic programs, reminiscent of the 90's xorg era.
