Proxmox GPU Passthrough Guide for Linux Gaming Sunshine Moonlight 2025 The Right WAY!

Hey everyone, after some great feedback from the community, i decided to remake this tutorial. The first video had some errors and somehow i forgot to include the proxmox gpu passthrough setup :/ this version is more accurate and complete. I want to thank all of you who provided feedback! This continuation of the Ultimate Cheap Linux Server video we get a little complex. I show you the necessary steps to set up a Linux (Ubuntu) virtual machine (VM) on Proxmox for Gaming. I been seeing alot of GPU passthrough guides for Windows VMs, but i do not want to deal with windows anymore. Thanks to the great progress Valve has done in the linux gaming side, i believe we are ready for Gaming Linux VMs. In this video we will be following the first half of the famous Reddit thread on GPU passthrough for Proxmox. We will prepare Proxmox by configuring GRUB to enable IOMMU, blacklisting graphics drivers, and excluding the GPU from being used in Proxmox. For the gaming VM i chosed to stick with Ubuntu, i know that Valve recently released SteamOS and also Bazzitte has been mentioned as good alternatives. You can do whichever, but in my case, i chose Ubuntu because once we install the Steam Client, use big picture mode, and enable compatibility mode, we will have the same performance/experience as SteamOS for our system. Another big thing that i show you how to do in this video is to install Sunshine on the ubuntu gaming vm, so that we are able to stream games with low latency within our network. The last thing I show you how to do, is to install a fork of Xone, which is a linux utility that enables support for all the features of the xbox one controller. The original Xone project appears to be abandoned, but i found a fork that is working great.
