I Built a Solar-Powered Water Tank Level Sensor

If you'd like to support me to create more projects like this one, any donation would be truly appreciated - In this video, I walk you through my DIY smart water tank level sensor build using an ESP32 and an ultrasonic sensor (AJ-SR04M). It’s powered by a Li-ion battery and solar panel, with deep sleep mode to save power and extend battery life. 📦 Links & files: – Soldering Iron - – ESP32-C3 Super Mini - – AJ-SR04M Ultrasonic Sensor - – 5v Boost Converter - – TP4056 - – 470μF capacitor - – 6v 1W Solar Panel - – Resistors - – My 3D Printer - – Link to the instructions, code and hardware list - The sensor sends updates via Wi-Fi to Home Assistant using ESPHome, and only wakes up once every hour to check the water level. Whether you’re on rainwater, living off-grid, or just tired of climbing ladders to check your tank, this is a simple and effective way to monitor your water levels from anywhere. What’s inside the build: • ESP32-C3 Super Mini • AJ-SR04M waterproof ultrasonic sensor • TP4056 for battery charging • Li-ion battery + 6V solar panel • Custom 3D printed case • ESPHome + Home Assistant integration Got questions or building your own?
