A comparison of BASIC and machine code performance doing a simple screen update. The machine code does it quicker than the screen refreshes. In fact the program can run 200 times per second compared to a PAL screen refreshing at 50 Hz. Although not often necessary these days, back in the 1980s it unavoidable to use some machine code plus it rocks to be able to wield a machine at its lowest level 🙂
