The threat from the north had not yet been extinguished, as the Teutones’ defeat at Aqua Sextiae left their allies, the Cimbri, still a formidable force. These northern warriors, hardened by years of wandering and conquest, had regrouped in the plains of northern Italy, where they posed a dire challenge to Rome’s survival. Consuls Gaius Marius and Quintus Lutatius Catulus now commanded the combined might of Rome’s reformed legions. The Senate had granted them extraordinary powers, knowing that a single failure could open the way for barbarian devastation across the Italian heartland. For Marius, the stakes were deeply personal. His military reforms and hard-won reputation would be tested one final time. 🚩 Credit to: Albert Gregl denis_cliofas Lazanja AdamSwann97 📢 Narrated by David McCallion 🎼 Music: EpidemicSound Filmstro Kevin MacLeod 📖 Sources and Citations: R.
