Today we're spending a quiet autumn day at home — hanging laundry in the cool air, catching up on a little housekeeping and ironing, clearing away the old sunflower garden, and giving an outdoor fall painting some new life. Nigel is also taking advantage of the autumn weather to give the deck a fresh coat of paint before the colder days arrive. In the kitchen, we're making an easy one-pan sausage and vegetable supper before heading out for one of our favourite little traditions — a visit to the thrift store. The following day brings another sign of the changing season as we clean and put away the hummingbird feeders until they're needed again. Then we'll slow things down indoors with a simple fabric wreath made by hand. There is something comforting about these ordinary seasonal tasks. Nothing particularly grand — just caring for home, noticing what's changing around us, and finding beauty in the work right in front of us.
