Hello and welcome to the PropMedia podcast. We're interviewing Agent Casey G., the owner of Agent4M and City 360 Tours in Arizona. His companies do about 15 to 20 shoots a day, and he is scaling his business in a lot of different directions, including with 3D tours and other ideas. Casey G. shares how he got into real estate, starting with the goal of getting his real estate license so he could use the commission for a down payment on a house. While getting the license was easy, he found that actually making money as a real estate agent was difficult. The stress of real estate and getting too emotionally attached to his clients led him to find less stress in photography. He got his real estate license in 2014 and is still a licensed realtor, but he stopped doing real estate completely about two years before the interview. He transitioned into photography approximately three years after getting his license. His move to photography was prompted by dissatisfaction with the quality of real estate photography and media companies he was using as an agent. A key example was a photographer who took a picture of a luxury home's pool house bathroom with two giant floaties left in the shot. This led Casey G. to decide he could do better, though he admits it was much harder than he thought, particularly editing photos and figuring out the white balance. Casey G. grew his media business through YouTube and word of mouth. His current team includes three full-time, hourly photographers and freelancers who are paid per job for extra work in their areas. His youngest daughter recently joined the business as the chief marketing officer, focusing on social media. He uses Spiro for all booking and photo delivery. Customer service is the number one priority of his company. He advises photographers to promote the realtor to the homeowner, act like they are best friends with the realtor if the agent is present, and promote the service. Casey G. is a contributor to YouTube, where he teaches others about real estate photography, social media, and how to create income through various social media platforms. His channel can teach someone how to start their own company with just a Canon M50. His side hustle, City 360 Tours, is a newer venture focused on providing virtual tours for city tourism boards. The idea is to have a drone view of the city that links to virtual tours of individual businesses. Businesses pay to have the virtual tour created and then a monthly service fee to keep it updated with things like menus and videos. This business was started because of the difficulties with editing Matterport tours, particularly when people show up in the middle of a scan. For virtual tours, Casey G. still uses Matterport in some cases, such as an empty restaurant where editing isn't a concern. Regarding his YouTube channel and social media, Casey G. notes that many photographers fail because they are not posting enough of their content, whether it is photos or videos. He suggests posting at least three times a week, but his company posts daily, sometimes a couple of times a day, to platforms like Instagram and Facebook. Personal posts and behind-the-scenes content do particularly well. Casey G. believes that to succeed in the future of real estate media, photographers need to continually take away the realtors' headaches, offering services like floor plans and post-installation/sign-hanging. **Chapter Marks:** 0:00:00 - Introduction 0:00:37 - Casey G.'s Background in Real Estate 0:02:13 - Transition to Photography 0:03:31 - Learning and Teaching on YouTube 0:07:00 - Operational Balance: Realtor vs. Photographer 0:08:50 - Customer Service and Realtor Needs 0:13:37 - Focusing on Teams and Scaling 0:16:29 - Casey G.'s Team Structure 0:17:55 - The Agent4M Way and Customer Service 0:19:10 - Systems for Booking and Delivery 0:21:18 - Running a Family Business and Redundancy 0:24:14 - City 360 Tours and Virtual Tours 0:28:20 - Social Media and Content Strategy 0:33:45 - Balancing Fulfillment and Marketing 0:38:29 - Tech Stack and Future Tools 0:43:46 - Future of Real Estate Media 0:46:49 - Conclusion and How to Follow Casey G.
