In Episode 2 of the $1,000 Jetta GLI rescue series, I try to tackle the DSG transmission issues. The dealership quoted the previous owner over $10,000 to replace the transmission… but today I’m going to do a full DSG fluid service to see if that solves the problem. And..... After changing the fluid and taking the car for a full test drive — the Jetta is shifting perfectly again. No more limp mode. No more slipping. No more crazy behavior. (for how long) Was dealership is wrong? Sometimes a “blown transmission” just needs proper maintenance. This $1,000 GLI might be a monster after all.
