As soon as I opened the box for this ADC CD-100X it unleashed an unpleasant smell that refused to go away, but that wasn't its only issue. Discs wouldn't stay in the player, which felt like a leaf switch problem but turned out to be more complicated, and it also had some quirks that I'd not seen before.
