My entry to the Summer of Math Exposition contest (SoME1). Newton's superb theorem (also called the shell theorem) says that a spherically symmetric body affects external objects gravitationally as if all of its mass were concentrated at a point at its center. This video is my take on a relatively new proof of the theorem, which presents a geometric argument without calculus. References: C. Schmid, American Journal of Physics 79, 536 (2011) Many thanks to 3Blue1Brown, both for setting up the contest and for making such fantastic videos. The channel is truly an inspiration.
