Restoring Sheriff Woody – A Full Repair of This Toy Story 2 Icon! In this video, I take on the challenge of fully restoring a Sheriff Woody doll that arrived in a shocking, "zombified" condition. This beloved character from Toy Story 2 (1999) deserved a second chance, so I carefully repaired and rebuilt him to bring him back to life! This is a remastered video version taken from one of my older projects and improved to fit todays quality, pace and needs. I hope old viewers will like this video anyway! The Legendary Restoration Tool Chest To make this restoration even more special, I used a nearly identical replica of the famous tool chest seen in Toy Story 2, originally created by Pixar Animation Studios. This incredible piece was crafted by talented woodworker and YouTuber Matthew Moustache— you can check out his process of making it here: The Restoration Process The first step was disassembling Woody—removing all his clothing and carefully working around the damage. One of his feet was severely burned, so I had to use a heat blower to remove the melted cowboy boots. His head was in terrible shape, so I placed it on a custom-built stand as a nod to Sid Phillips' creepy toy creations from the original Toy Story. I then extracted the U-nails and melted metal plate lodged in Woody's head, followed by a gentle sandblasting with baking soda to avoid damaging the soft plastic. After cleaning and reinforcing the structure with tiny nails and wood supports, I sculpted a brand-new face using air-drying silky doll clay, aiming to restore his original charm. Once the shaping was complete, I spent countless hours refining, filling, and sanding to perfect the details. Using an airbrush, I applied multiple layers of acrylic water-based paint, carefully mixing a custom skin tone slightly darker than the original. His hair and eyebrows also got a subtle refresh, and for the finishing touch, I printed new eye colors and carefully applied them to recreate his signature look. Bringing Woody Back to Life With Buzz Lightyear’s "help" (😉), I crafted a brand-new cowboy belt buckle, which turned out fantastic. Woody’s clothes got a deep clean in my mini washing machine, and I managed to find second-hand boots on eBay to replace the damaged pair. This restoration was one of my most challenging yet, especially getting Woody’s face just right—but I’m really happy with how he turned out. My goal was to capture his Toy Story 2 expression and personality, and I think I succeeded! I hope you enjoy watching this transformation as much as I loved working on it.
