What is Radioactive Decay? Half Life | Decay Constant | Activity (+ Problems Solving)

The Law of Radioactive Decay tells us how the number of a radioactive sample changes with time. Usually it is an exponential decay process. Even though the different radioactive processes like alpha decay, beta decay or gamma decay are different from each other in terms of the particles emitted etc, they all share the same kind of decay law. Half Life is defined as the time period in which the initial number of radioactive samples reaches half its original value. Decay constant and half life are inversely proportional to each other. These quantities are a characteristic of the radioactive sample present, and is independent of the physical parameters like pressure, temperature, density etc. Mean life is the average lifespan of all radioactive samples present. Activity is the rate of radioactive decay, or the number of disintegrations happening per unit time. Activity also decreases exponentially with time. We can use the conclusions derived from the decay law and other parameters to solve different problems of radioactive decay. ▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱ Support💖 Donate🤝🏻 Telegram - ▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱ Follow my other videos here... •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• NUCLEAR AND PARTICLE PHYSICS - Series : •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 1) What is Nuclear Physics? ► 2) Nuclear Size / Radius ► 3) Quantization of Angular Momentum ► 4) Nuclear Spin and Angular Momentum ► 5) Nuclear Magnetic Moment ► 6) Binding Energy of Nucleus & BE Curve ► 7) Parity of Wave function ► 8) Symmetric & Anti symmetric Wave func ► 9) Liquid Drop Model of Nucleus ► 10) Corrections to Liquid Drop Model ► 11) NZ Graph (& Maximizing BE) ► 12) Fermi Energy of Nucleus ► 13) Fermi Gas Model of Nucleus ► 14) Shell Model of Nucleus ► 15) Nature of (Strong) Nuclear Force) ► 16) Alpha, Beta & Gamma Decay ► 17) Gamow's Theory of Alpha Decay ► 18) Gamow's Theory (DERIVATION) ► 19) Q Value and KE of Alpha Decay ► 20) Beta Decay & Neutrino Hypothesis ► 21) Radioactive Decay Law ► 22) Nuclear Cross Section ► 23) Interaction of Nuclear Radiation with Matter ► 24) What is Cherenkov Radiaton? ► 25) Nuclear Detectors ► 26) Geiger Muller Counter ► 27) Scintillation Detector ► 28) Semiconductor Detectors ► 29) What are Accelerators? ► 30) Van de Graaff Generator ► 31) Linear Accelerator ► 32) Cyclotron ► 33) Synchrotron ► 34) Betatron ► 35) Fission & Fusion ► 36) Proton-Proton & CNO Cycle ► 37) Meson Theory of Nuclear Forces ► ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• NUCLEAR PHYSICS - PLAYLIST ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• #NuclearPhysics
