Why Luxury Prices Are Out of Control | The End of the Aspirational Shopper

With a general slowdown of consumer spending in luxury goods, it feels like a weird time for fashion houses to be jacking up prices to a degree that no regular person could afford them, but here we are. Obviously luxury has always been exclusive, but the costs have gone up so much it seems even the aspirational shopper is being purposefully left behind. I was shocked by some of the new season's prices, and I wanted to go into why this is all happening, and whether I think it will work out for these brands in the long-term. Do you think this strategy makes sense? I for one hope it fails. I understand the need to make your brand appear exclusive, but this level of greed is new territory, and I can't see a world where any of us continue to engage with these brands.
