Using hardware dating back to 2013, I managed to make my own 'AI powered' surveillance camera using just open source technology, and showcased how such a camera system works so you can better understand how these systems actually work. Neural networks have to be trained to specifically identify things, you can't just tell it to identify whatever without training it to. I go over how Flock's cameras are more than just "license plate readers" by using my demonstration, combined with their explicit wording in their patents.
