How to Extract Any Part of Cell in Excel

How to split or extract numbers, text, or any other part of a cell in Excel. 🔥 Take our Data Analyst Program: 🆓 DOWNLOAD Free Excel file for this video: In this video we go over how to extract anything from a cell in Excel. We'll first go over how to extract a number using flash fill with the ctrl E shortcut. However, flash fill has a major limitation -it's not dynamic. So if the original data changes, it will not update automatically. As such, we also teach a dynamic alternative called REGEX. For this we use the REGEXTRACT formula in Excel, where it dynamically extracts any numbers from a cell. Then, we go over extracting text values starting with the LEFT function. We also go over some more flexible alternatives such as TEXTBEFORE and TEXTAFTER which let us customize the number of instances, the if not found message, and more. Finally, we'll build an extractor tool where we can choose the part of a cell we want, and it extracts it automatically. For this we use a combination of the TEXTSPLIT function and the INDEX function.
