High up on the Pamir Highway (M41), higher than 14,000 feet, the Khargush Pass feels less like a road and more like a trip across Mars. 🚙💨 We — the Vagabond Couple in our Toyota Tundra Shehzadi — dared to tackle this wild stretch between Alichur and Langar in Tajikistan’s Gorno-Badakhshan region. The scenery? Unreal. Rainbow mountains, icy lakes, yaks sprinting like athletes, and not a soul for miles. The “road” is a loose suggestion of gravel, snow, and potholes that could qualify as swimming pools. We passed through the Khargush checkpoint, waved at the soldiers, and kept rolling along the ancient Silk Road route once crossed by traders and dreamers. Legends say mountain spirits protect this pass — maybe that’s why we made it through with our tires and panels (mostly) intact.
