On September 17th, 2016, residents in the remote town of Pinyon Pines, California, were alarmed to see smoke billowing from a home. What they believed to be an electrical fire or the beginning of a wildfire unfolded into something much, much more sinister. When police and firefighters arrived on the scene, they found that there was no one to rescue inside. Because, laying on the floor of the living room, a 53-year-old woman and her 55-year-old partner were discovered with bullet wounds.
