Rebuilding Tree Branches in Houdini – Procedural & Curve Techniques Explained

Recreating realistic branches on a photogrammetry-scanned tree is one of the most important steps in the environment workflow. In today’s episode of the Fanal Forest series, I take the cleaned RealityCapture scan and bring it into Houdini to rebuild the missing branch structure. I cover two complete workflows. First is a more hands-on approach where I use curves that snaps to a point cloud from reality scan. The second is more procedural. I scatter branches that I will then cut and sculpt using the Groom tools. It all comes together a sculpt in 3Dcoat What You’ll Learn How to combine photogrammetry with procedural modeling How to recreate missing tree branches accurately How to use Houdini as a tree-building tool How to prepare assets for the next stage in the forest project How to keep your workflow clean, fast, and optimized Check out my Free Stuff on FAB: Watch the Playlist here: Previous Episode: Next Episode: Detail sculpting in 3D Coat #Houdini #HoudiniTutorial #ProceduralModeling #TreeModeling #3DModeling #Photogrammetry #RealityCapture #EnvironmentArt #GameDev #UnrealEngine #3DScanning #CGI #VFX #IndieDev #DigitalArt #EnvironmentDesign #ForestScan #FanalForest #TreeSculpting #HoudiniSOPs
