Whoa! It's been a long month, shaking off all the rust, relearning and improving my skills. Establishing a new high score from an botched run. Hitting a slump for the past week. Even beating a score after I uploaded a teaser trailer for a previous one! And within the last hours of the last day of my redemption period, I finally nailed it! Here I am, 4 years later and I completely disintegrated my old score! However, I didn't do this on my own. This is all thanks to everyone the algorithm reached out to this past month and flooded my channel with views, and especially those who subbed. Without you, my channel would have taken forever to grow (I've been here 13 years already) and I probably wouldn't have been inspired to revisit this game at this point in time even though I still had work to do on it. Even those cheeky enough to dislike or leave some "questionable" comments, I still thank you because any interactions on a video help build my video's reach with the A.I. (hehe, I win) Now I get to shelve it for a while and work on something else from my ridiculously huge backlog, whee! So thank you everyone! I barreled through the 15-course OutRun Mode, totally eclipsing my old score by almost 500k points and chopped off about 20 seconds off my time for a new Personal Best!! Things I improved on: - I'm much better at using analog sticks! - I stopped using my old "Left Stick Wheel" method as it was causing more harm than good - I'm more mindful of the small cars and importance in scoring and slipstreaming (I really want to bump them, [evil laugh]) - I greatly improved my handling of the Milky Way S-Curves - I finally broke 14 minutes course time! You've seen it here first! Things that could still use some work: - The Times Square hairpin. I cleared it in this video and I think I solidified how it should be taken, but this is literally the 3rd time THIS ENTIRE MONTH that I passed it cleanly. - The Canyon stage Rivals. This was a happy accident. I coaxed the 1st Rival forward to join the 2nd rival after knocking the rail (I was SO lucky it didn't despawn). Which made a better opportunity for slipstream score and the bonus through the fork. If I can solidify a strat, then that'd be sweet! - SLIPSTREAM PASS ALL RIVALS! Easier said than done, LOL! At least one of these guys will do something different or somehow an unexpected traffic pattern happens thanks to RNG. Things for the future: - I'll probably pick this game up again on the 15th Anniversary. - My theoretical ballpark max score with my current strat is 4,200,000-4,250,000 points. Only if I perfectly pass all the Rivals and squeeze out all the Slipstream I can from the cars. The basic objective in OutRun is to reach a goal and score by passing cars in the shortest time possible. OutRun Online Arcade was a DLC spinoff of OutRun 2 SP, but with only the SP course available (plans to add the original OutRun 2 course were dashed). 2. Gameplay [OROA2] Drive to pass cars. Choose a direction when the road forks. Drift by brake then accel at any time or downshift then upshift if your revs are high. Slipstream by driving behind cars for extra speed, then pass for more points. Don't crash. 3. Tips [OROA3] - Don't crash. - Slipstream faster than max speed (your score should be blue) at the fork for bonus points. Very important for scoring! 4. Misc [OROA4] - Don't crash. - Sometimes birds or other things fly above you while driving through the fork to the next stage. The conditions are hidden, but it seems to depend on what your did either throughout the stage or at the fork. I regret not being able to trigger any special things in this run.
