In this video, we review how to solve a linear equation in one variable. Recall that a linear equation in one variable is of the form: ax + b = c. Our goal is to isolate the variable on one side of the equation and have a number on the other. In order to do this, we follow a simple four step method. We begin by simplifying each side separately, we then move all the variable terms to one side and all of the numbers to the other. Next, we isolate the variable on one side of the equation, to gain our solution. Lastly, we check the solution, by plugging in for the variable in the original equation.
