In this video, we break down one of the most essential components of Azure Data Factory: Integration Runtimes (IRs). You’ll learn how ADF actually executes pipelines behind the scenes and how compute, networking, and connectivity work across cloud and on-prem environments. We cover all three types of Integration Runtimes: Azure Integration Runtime (Azure IR) Fully managed, serverless compute used for most cloud-to-cloud data movement and orchestration. Self-Hosted Integration Runtime (SHIR) A secure, on-premises runtime used to access private networks, local databases, file servers, and hybrid systems using outbound-only HTTPS (port 443). SSIS Integration Runtime Purpose-built for running and migrating existing SSIS packages into Azure. You’ll also learn when to use each IR, how network communication works, what port 443 outbound really means, authentication behavior, and a step-by-step walkthrough of installing and configuring Self-Hosted IR—including scaling, clustering, and high availability. This lesson gives you the foundation needed to design real-world hybrid data pipelines in Azure Data Factory. #Azure #AzureDataFactory #ADF #IntegrationRuntime #SelfHostedIR #AzureIR #ETL #DataEngineering #CloudData #HybridCloud
