How to SOLVE Equations with Variables on BOTH Sides | 8.EE.C.7 💗

In this video lesson we will learn SIX steps to solve ANY algebraic linear equation in one variable. We will first look to see if there are parentheses to clear by using the distributive property. Second we will consider each side of the equation to determine if there are like variable or like constant terms and combine if necessary. Third we will look for like variable terms on both sides of the equal sign and use inverse operations to collect. Fourth we will collect constant terms to the opposite side using inverse operations. Fifth step will be to clear the coefficient using inverse operations. The final step will be to CHECK our solution. I will model these 6 steps on many exemplar problems. Student practice is embedded in the lesson with modeled exemplar solutions.
