Trigonometric Functions and the Unit Circle - Example (Cosine of 120 Degrees)

We find the cosine of 120 degrees the "long way". This is what you're really doing every time you find the cosine of an angle greater than 90 degrees. Of course, there are shortcuts. But this is theoretically how and why it works. Draw the angle and point on the unit circle, realize that the x-value of the point is the cosine of the angle, and find that point using a new triangle and a reference angle.
