The 60 Year Quest for the Perfect Sofa

The moving sofa problem was introduced by Leo Moser in 1966. Since then, many have tried to solve it - finding the biggest sofa that can be moved through a right angled hallway. For half a century mathematicians have failed to solve the problem, but only days ago a PhD thesis was published on by Jineon Baek, claiming to finally put an end to the sofa problem and establishing Gerver's sofa as the optimal solution. This is the story of the moving sofa problem. What do you think?
