Chasing Tranquility - Can We Catch Fish and Discover Wildlife on the Wekiva

Finding Peace on the Wekiva River — join us as father and son set out in a jon boat to see if we can catch fish and discover wildlife in one of Florida’s most beautiful backwater rivers. Along the way, we drift through calm waters, explore hidden channels, and encounter the wild side of Florida — from fish beneath the surface to bees and birds along the shore. The Wekiva River is a National Wild & Scenic River, fed by crystal-clear springs and surrounded by untouched forests that feel like stepping back in time. Flowing north into the St. Johns River, it has long been a place of peace, history, and natural wonder. Nearby, the DeBary Highbanks rise above the river — a site once used by Native peoples and later early settlers, still holding echoes of Florida’s past. And just downstream lies Blue Spring State Park, a sanctuary where hundreds of manatees gather each winter and where millions of gallons of spring water flow every day. This trip is more than fishing — it’s about slowing down, finding peace on the water, and sharing an unforgettable adventure together.
