Falling from the top position of the auto industry and loosing ground with Chevrolet and their introduction of a more powerful 6 cylinder motor, Henry Ford was facing a difficult decision. The Great Depression was affecting car sales. His solution was to make a V8 from just a single cast block. Nobody in the automotive industry had done it before and even his top engineers thought that it was impossible. But Henry Ford felt otherwise.
