1960s Nylint Lil Tow Dune Buggy Tow Truck Restoration

I purchased this 1960's Nylint Lil Tow Dune Buggy Tow Truck on eBay July of 2021 for $ . I had never seen one of these until this one and was super happy to win the auction. Overall it was in great shape and a perfect candidate for a restoration. The body had severely faded and damaged paint with only a couple spots under the seat that showed the original colors. The tow boom was missing almost all of its paint until I flipped it upside down and found the original color was white. All of the plated parts were in pretty rough shape, I decided to powder coat the hub caps due to the pitting on the surfaces and I nickel plated the windshield, tow winch, and axles. This is the first project I have ever made an injection mold for and was pleasantly surprised with how it came out. The biggest challenge is running the tiny bits at the correct feeds and speeds, I used a .010 inch flat endmill to do the final milling of all the detail work, in total I had roughly 23 hours of cutting time for this mold. I'm pretty sure the right operator could cut that way down, however with the price of the bits and how fragile they are, I was perfectly happy with the time required. Decided to play it safer rather than faster. The injection mold came out great, in my opinion it came out better than factory due to the letters being a little deeper which allows them to be seen better. It really opens some doors to make some restoration parts bringing injection molding into the picture. I definitely have tons to learn with the process but feel super encouraged with this project turning out better than anticipated. The only thing I wish I could have done better on this restoration was the rear tires. With all the little details and how rough the original set was, I chose to find some better used tires, maybe some day I'll make an injection mold for those as well. The decals left a little something to be desired however I had to make those as well since no one has these available to purchase.
