Justin J. Pearson is a Tennessee state representative, community organizer, and Democratic nominee for Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District. A Memphis native and Bowdoin College graduate, Pearson rose to national prominence in 2023 as one of the “Tennessee Three,” after being expelled from the state legislature for participating in a gun reform protest following the Nashville school shooting. He was subsequently reinstated and reelected. Before entering office, Pearson helped lead a successful grassroots campaign against a proposed oil pipeline through predominantly Black communities in Memphis.
