Come in and stop a moment on the stair before you go down — the sun has just gone behind the hills, and the last of the light is still lying on the loch. The day is finished, and nothing more is being asked of you. 🏔️🔥 From the landing you can see the whole room at once. Away to the left, the long window looks out over the water: the loch is perfectly still, the far hills have gone dark blue, and one thin band of amber is fading along the ridge. On the far shore a single lodge has its lamps lit, and their light lies in the water beneath it. Rowan and birch in full autumn colour lean in around the glass, their leaves barely stirring. The window is closed and the room is warm. Just below you on the right, the great stone hearth is burning wide and low over a deep bed of embers, with a copper jug standing on the hearthstone. Lanterns are lit on every table, brass lamps hang from the beams, and the bottles behind the bar are holding the firelight. Two leather armchairs are drawn up to the fire — a tartan blanket over the arm of one, a closed book on the seat of the other — and on the small round table between them a lantern is lit and a whisky has been poured and left waiting. One of those chairs is yours. What you'll hear in here: a little under four and a half hours of slow Celtic folk, instrumental all the way through and kept to one unhurried, even pace — softly plucked acoustic strings, one low open drone beneath them, quiet warm accompaniment, and long rests between the phrases. Under the music the fire keeps its own time, and that is the only other sound in the room. The evening outside stays on the far side of the glass, there to be looked at rather than heard. No rain, no wind, and no change of mood from start to finish — put it on and leave it be. Stay until the last light is gone, and longer if you like. The room is here for resting after a long day, sitting with a warm drink and nothing that needs doing, reading in the chair by the fire, slow and quiet work or study, a long tabletop session with old friends, or letting yourself drift off to sleep while the lamp across the water goes on burning. If this feels like your side of the loch, subscribing is how you'll find your way back — another room opens here every couple of nights. 🥃 / @FirelitTavern #scottishhighlandpub #autumndusk #highlandloch #autumnevening #autumnleaves #lochside #celticfolkmusic #slowcelticfolk #celticmusic #cozypubambience #tavernambience #fireplacesounds #hearthambience #peacefulmusic #readingmusic #sleepmusic #studymusic The sun has just gone behind the hills, and the last of the light is still lying on the loch.
