Read description: This has probably been the most unlucky month for elevator filming since I started this hobby. This is the second time I got stuck in an elevator in the same month. Unlike last time, I couldn’t get out. Me and ​⁠@railevator4000 we’re filming in Altoona PA at the Country Inn & Suites by the Blair County Convention Center when we saw a sign for a parking garage. We decided to check out the elevator in the garage after we were finished filming. The convention center was closed and the parking garage was completely empty and dark. We saw the elevator and started filming. The first problem on the elevator was that both indicators lit up. We pushed the button to the basement and the elevator door closed. While going down we noticed some dragging in the shaft. When the elevator got to the basement, the door did not open despite the chime going off. We then started to panic and push the other buttons to see if the elevator would move. The elevator did not move and nudge mode started going off. Keep in mid this was the middle of December in the mountains so it was freezing cold. There was no heat turned on in the elevator. None of the buttons worked, not even the alarm. I tried calling my dad when the call did not come through. Despite my phone having cellular data, I couldn’t call anyone. After a little bit we pushed the call button which was just a pre recorded message. All the call button did was reset the elevator. On the bright side, nudge mode stopped but only to go off again. We had to either push the call button or the stop switch to stop the annoying noise. We then tried to call 911 but even that did not work. My dad and my friends dad eventually came to the garage wondering if we were ok. My friend’s dad went to the Country Inn & Suites to call the fire department. We checked the certificate on the elevator to se if it was outdated and were astounded that this elevator has not been inspected since 2012. Even if this was inspected, there was no way this should have ever passed inspection. After a while, my dad got mad and kicked the outside door. The elevator then reset again and we got out. We wanted to see why we got stuck and sent the elevator and sent it back downstairs. We used the steps to walk downstairs and see the reason why we got stuck. The reason we got stuck was because there was a problem with the outside door. In conclusion, this elevator is in horrible condition and extremely unsafe. It is a miracle our parents were there. If they were not, we could have frozen to death. I hope Blair Country Convention Center will fix there elevator because this is unacceptable. The lesson is to not film in places like this, cause you never know what could happen. Happy new year!
