Disclosure: This content was produced by me, in my capacity as an HID Employee. I am also a board certified PSP (Physical Security Professional) by the ASIS International Organization. I came across this really cool video from the Wall Street Journal, and I'd like to watch it with you. This is probably the best video I've ever seen that explains how secure credentials work. But they do it under the lens of NFC payments... Which over the last few years has really started to gain traction in the United States. Now, obviously, mobile credentials through Employee Badge in Apple wallet also use NFC technology. So this is a great way to understand not just how contactless payments, but also contactless access control and employee badge and Apple wallet actually functions. Don't have time to watch it on LinkedIn? Watch it on YouTube: Also, did you know there is a 20% Promotion on Plastic Cards at HID when you try out Mobile Credentials? DM me or leave a comment below and I can provide you with more info! I hope you found this video as thought provoking and educational as I did. What do you think? Plastic versus mobile? What do you think? Contactless versus prox? MHz SEOS. MIFARE DESFire credentials against prox. We should not be using Prox cards at all in the physical security space. And if you're still doing that, I would encourage you, I would highly encourage you to at least, at the very least, move to a contactless MHz standard like SEOS or MIFARE DESFire.
